As a Production Technician in Composites or Assembly, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are pivotal to building a plane or jet. You will learn to use a variety of hand tools and pneumatic fixtures to assemble parts. The role requires flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to learn new skills as needed.
ScheduleThis is a first shift position Monday to Thursday; 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM; overtime as required.
Sign-on BonusEligible for a $2,000 sign‑on bonus until further notice.
Duties and Responsibilities / Essential Functions- Diverse knowledge in two primary responsibilities within the assembly area; new hires will learn two disciplines/builds/skillsets within six months depending on the assembly area starting within.
- Confidently install components for fit, clearance, alignment, and functional performance within design requirements.
- Manage Technician schedule and takt time pace.
- Inspect, build, and install aircraft components.
- Follow engineering drawings and specifications.
- Ensure part fit, clearance, alignment, and functional performance comply with design requirements.
- Be responsible for cleaning, set up, and use of bonding, drilling, and holding fixtures.
- Route wires, cables, and tubing.
- Install rivets, screws, and bolts using appropriate tools.
- Torque hardware and fittings using various tools and test equipment.
- Follow and properly document aircraft build instructions.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including respirator.
- Mix and apply adhesives, resins, and sealants per instructions.
- Maintain a clear and organized workstation to department standards.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Minimum two years of related experience, education, or training required (e.g., medium/low volume manufacturing, automotive, military aircraft, maintenance).
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to examine completed work for accuracy.
- Adaptable to changing assignments.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast‑paced team environment.
- High integrity and ability to communicate errors to leadership for immediate correction.
- Initiative to finish assignments and personal accountability for time management.
- Reliable and dependable work ethic that adapts to changing work requirements.
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings and calculate dimensions within a thousandth of an inch.
- Knowledge of basic tools and good judgment when selecting the proper tool for the job.
- Auto/marine mechanic and collision repair experience.
- Basic assembly tasks following specific instructions.
- Low/Medium volume manufacturing experience.
- High volume manufacturing experience.
- Military experience in a non‑mechanical discipline.
- Surface preparation for adhesives.
- Carpentry skills (e.g., furniture, cabinets).
- Construction/DIY building or framing.
- Plumbing installation and torquing flared fittings.
- General aircraft knowledge (e.g., pilot’s license, small aircraft experience).
- Experience in fast‑paced environments (e.g., oil change, line cook, fast food, healthcare).
- Self‑development: actively seeks new ways to grow and be challenged.
