The Night Shift Supervisor (NSS) of the Bethel Work Release Center (BWRC) is responsible for supervision of correction officers and residents in an adult residential Work Release facility on a daily basis. Further, the NSS works closely with the Director and Case Managers to develop continuity and direction to all programs and supervise staff as appropriate.

Minimum Desirable Background
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or
  • One year of prior experience in a setting or human services field.
  • Working knowledge of Bethel policies and procedures as well as BWRC operating policy and procedures, DOC licensing requirements and BOP statement of work.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with residents, other staff members, and outside agencies.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to structure time well and develop priorities.
  • Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds with multiple problems.
  • Leadership skills and the ability to assist with the direction and supervision of other staff.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
Essential Functions
  • Ensure that proper Department of Corrections and Federal Bureau of Prisons standards are upheld.
  • Ensure that the rules and regulations of the facility and contracting agencies are observed and followed by residents and staff.
  • Maintain an environment that promotes motivation and change with a positive and cooperative attitude toward residents, coworkers, and other Bethel staff.
  • Supervise afternoon shift staff persons providing support and leadership.
  • Aid the Training Officer in training all new staff in BWRC policy and procedure.
  • Model appropriate behavior and language for residents and correction officers.
  • Deal with difficult residents and anticipate present and future needs.
