Food Resource Manager

Job Summary

The Food Resource Manager is responsible for managing the organization’s product sourcing including personal identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of product donors and vendors.

Essential Functions
  • Cultivate positive relations with program participants, agency and community partners, volunteers, donors, staff and other constituents upholding our organization’s commitment to treating all with fairness, dignity and respect.
  • Keep up to date on industry trends, have working knowledge of the Feeding America Partner Food Bank Agreement requirements, information contained on Hunger Net, and the Learning Hub, as it relates to the Food Resource Manager position.
  • Manage the organization’s product sourcing strategy including acquisition of neighbor-preferred donated and purchased product from manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, and growers.
  • Support the development and implementation of the organization’s product sourcing plan including personal identification, cultivation, training, solicitation and stewardship of product donors and vendors.
  • Ensure internal and external accurate and timely documentation, comprehensive reporting and acknowledgement of product.
  • Facilitate and/or participate in internal and external meetings and training to share knowledge and trends to optimize the organization’s food sourcing strategy.
  • Work closely with the operations department to address sourcing challenges, ensure timely pick up and accurate reporting of product donations.
  • Train the operations department on donor engagement and stewardship strategy to optimize donor relations and product donations.
  • Work closely with the partnerships and programs department to strengthen agency and community partner capacity to optimize product sourcing and enablement.
  • Work closely with the development department to develop brand-consistent solicitation and stewardship materials and ensure recognition of key product donors.
  • Represent the organization in associations, organizations, trade shows directly related to strengthening sourcing strategy and/or relations with product donors.
  • Host industry tours with current and prospective product donors raising awareness of the organization’s mission, programs, agency and community partners, and neighbors supported.
  • Financial Management
  • Support the development of a departmental budget by the Director of Operations by the established deadline.
  • Support the control of departmental expenditure in accordance with the approved budget.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
  • Qualifications Required
    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience/education (one to three years)
    • Interest in hunger issue or related social services
    • Strong customer service, communication, interpersonal and persuasion skills
    • Strong organization skills and an attention to detail
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
    • Ability to work independently, exercising initiative and sound judgment
    • Ability to work as a team with various staff members
    • Computer proficiency including experience with Microsoft 365 (data visualization, pivot tables, charts, etc.)
    • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (position requires regional travel)
    • Serv Safe® Certification or equivalent (may be obtained following hire)
    Qualifications Preferred
    • Knowledge of, or experience in, sales and/or the food industry
    • Connection with NE Minnesota and NW Wisconsin business/food related community
