Marine Safety Coordinator at Core Group Resources
In this vital role, you will oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of safety standards on our vessels, ensuring the highest levels of safety, security, and environmental protection. Your expertise will help maintain regulatory compliance, support vessel crews, and foster a culture of safety at sea.
Responsibilities- Manage and coordinate all safety, environmental, and security compliance activities for the fleet, ensuring adherence to applicable laws and industry standards.
- Implement, maintain, and improve the company’s Safety Management System (SMS), developing new procedures and documentation as needed.
- Oversee the Fleet’s Streamlined Inspection Program (SIP), orchestrating inspections, audits, and compliance efforts with USCG Marine Safety Units.
- Support operational teams, technical departments, and chartering units with safety-related issues and initiatives.
- Serve as a technical resource for vessel Masters and Deck Officers on safety, firefighting, navigation, voyage planning, communications, and emergency response procedures.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive safety, environmental, security, and emergency response training programs for both offshore and shoreside personnel.
- Conduct regular vessel and facility audits to ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to company safety policies.
- Assist in incident investigations, manage non-conformities, and oversee the resolution of safety-related issues.
- Review casualty reports, injury reports, near‑miss incidents, and non‑conformance reports to identify areas for safety improvement.
- Oversee and manage the fleet’s drug testing program, coordinating random, post‑incident, and for‑cause testing efforts.
- Degree from a Maritime Academy or relevant maritime educational background.
- US Coast Guard License, including Great Lakes Pilotage endorsement.
- TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Extensive knowledge of marine shipping industry legislation, safety standards, and best practices.
- Ability to safely embark and disembark large, high freeboard vessels via pilot ladder and/or gangway.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
