Position OverviewJoin our corporate office in Duluth, Minnesota—a vibrant college town overlooking Lake Superior. We’re looking for a Director of Brand Voice to elevate and manage the maurices brand across all touchpoints.
Role PurposeThe Brand Voice Director is responsible for the holistic voice and tone of the maurices brand. Reporting to the Senior Director of Creative and Content, the director independently writes copy, edits, manages team work, develops campaign concepts, and maintains an omnichannel brand lens with customer insights.
Essential Duties and Functions- Lead the copywriting team and guide content creators while overseeing multiple business units.
- Collaborate with leadership and cross‑functional teams, building trust and clear communication.
- Evaluate creative talent, provide constructive feedback, and champion brand excellence.
- Inspire original ideas aligned with strategy and brief.
- Understand and manage team business goals daily.
- Resolve internal conflicts, motivate the team, and develop solutions.
- Manage time effectively, delegate tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Develop and manage integrated content across email, social, paid media, video, mobile, direct mail, store windows, PR, and experiential marketing.
- Build, lead, and review work of the copy team for all channel marketing collateral.
- Spearhead content strategy for both small and large-scale projects using digital, brand design, and technology.
- Develop internal marketing campaigns that translate objectives across business units into clear creative strategies.
- Supervise a cross‑functional team of copywriters, social media and content experts, and reviewers of designers, photographers/videographers, and project managers.
- Conduct brainstorming sessions maintaining strategic and creative thinking for innovative initiatives.
- Review and approve art and copy ensuring alignment with marketing goals.
- Present concepts and secure approvals for final deliverables.
- BFA, BA, or associate degree in English, advertising, or marketing preferred; experience may substitute education.
- 7‑10+ years of creative and/or copy experience within an organization or agency.
- Retail and fashion experience preferred.
- 3+ years of supervisory/leadership experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools.
- Strong critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong leadership, independence, initiative, and collaborative team orientation.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with flexibility to manage multiple assignments in a fast‑paced environment.
