Job Description:
The Pediatric Oncology Program Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership, program development and coordination of pediatric oncology programming. This includes working with physicians and staff to assist and guide oncology patients and their caregivers through the continuum of care, the development and assimilation of appropriate pediatric oncology educational materials, and the coordination of patient/family/community support and education programs. The Program Coordinator is responsible for providing child life services to facilitate coping and mastery of healthcare experiences through developmentally appropriate activities as well as serving as a resource to families and the healthcare team on child development and behavior issues.
Provides consultative support related to processes, materials, and environments to all Essentia departments regarding developmentally sensitive, patient and family centered care. The Program Coordinator acts as a liaison between medical staff, families of children with serious health problems and the school system. Position requires strong customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with individuals with cancer, their families, physicians, co-workers, the community and the Miller Dwan Foundation.
Qualifications:
Required
Work Experience:
- 3 years healthcare experience
- Oncology related experience
Required
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, social work, child life/child development, education or a health related field.
Qualifications:
Required Certification:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification or ability to obtain within 6-12 months
Preferred Certification:
- Child Life Professional Certification or ability to obtain within 6-12 months
