ASPIRUS ST. LUKE'S HOSPITAL in Duluth, MN is seeking a HISTOLOGY TECHNICIAN to join our PATHOLOGY team!
Salary Range: $25.84 - $37.47 Hourly

The Histology Technician works with the Histology Technical Specialist as a resource for advanced technical knowledge. Responsible for the performance of repetitive high volume tests in a modern anatomic pathology lab; identify direct causes of problems (technical or instrumental) and make the corrections using present guidelines; monitor quality control procedures within predetermined parameters. Performs immunocytochemical stains on cytologic and histologic specimens and evaluates quality and adequacy of each test.
Acts as a resource in the department to help solve quality and technical problems.

Successful completion of an Associates Degree in Histotechnology. - Experience

: ASCP Certification as Histo-Technician (HT) within twelve (12) months of hire. Those hired without valid certification are encouraged to take the first available examination after their date of hire and pass this certifying exam within three (3) consecutive administrations of the exam within twelve (12) months.

Skills and Abilities
Ability to perform preparations of microscopic slides to be examined by a pathologist as stated in the St. Luke's Histology Slide Preparation Procedures including, but not limited to: embedding, microtomy, H&E staining, special staining, immunohistochemistry staining, frozen sectioning and cover-slipping. Must have the ability to pay attention to detail, have strong organization skills and use rigid accuracy in the identification of specimens.
Exercises professional discretion and confidentiality with patient information. Must have the ability to operate various histology equipment types and troubleshoot functionality issues. Ability to maintain respectful working relationships with other team members and customers is essential.
