Overview
Propulsion Systems Engineer II at Cirrus Aircraft. Focused on Powerplant Systems, responsible for design, development, integration, and certification with engine and/or propeller manufacturers along with systems such as fire extinguishing, fire detection, engine controls, engine indications, power plant cooling, fuel systems, induction, and exhaust on the SR and SF platforms and on new projects. Coordinate development and system integration work with subcontractors and external suppliers.
Responsibilities- Interface with other aircraft disciplines, including structural and electrical disciplines, across the Cirrus Aircraft platform.
- Work with a multi-discipline team on power plant system design development.
- Identify, select, and coordinate with component and system suppliers.
- Assist in development and certification of power plant systems under FAR Part 23, Part 25, or Part 33.
- Research industry guidance documents for best practices (e.g., SAE).
- Create 3D models and drawings of power plant systems in Creo.
- Author and check documents including test plans and reports, certification reports, and other engineering documents.
- Perform trade studies involving weight, cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Communicate effectively on technical issues and take initiative to fill gaps when necessary.
- Complete project assignments and take responsibility for designs and design outcomes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams).
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering.
- 3+ years of experience with power plant systems preferred.
