Assistant Construction Manager
Location: Onsite in Bloomington/Duluth, MN
Pay Rate: 50-60 hourly DOE
We are seeking an Assistant Construction Manager to support construction management, and program management projects across a variety of industries including aviation, commercial building, transmission & distribution, manufacturing, oil & gas, power generation, process, and water. This role works closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and Site Managers to help drive project safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance while supporting contracts, procurement, documentation, and field operations.
Key Responsibilities- Support day-to-day project management activities including scheduling, cost control, reporting, and documentation.
- Assist with development and implementation of project execution, safety, quality, staffing, and procurement plans.
- Track project status, risks, schedule updates, costs, and cash flow.
- Coordinate site mobilization/demobilization, permits, compliance documentation, and project closeout.
- Ensure adherence to safety programs and company standards; participate in audits and monitor safety, quality, and financial performance.
- Support RFP development, bidding, subcontractor selection, and execution of contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and change orders.
- Manage contract administration activities including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, change management, claims mitigation, and invoicing.
- Coordinate materials management, inventory control, and construction equipment tracking.
- Partner with field leadership to ensure subcontractor compliance with safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
- Support labor coordination including staffing, onboarding, crew rate analysis, labor tracking, and production forecasting.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent relevant experience.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant construction project experience.
- Experience working on active construction sites.
- Strong knowledge of project coordination, cost tracking, scheduling, and documentation processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control, or project management software preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in industries such as aviation, commercial, energy, manufacturing, oil & gas, transmission & distribution, transportation, or water preferred.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).
- Must meet company driving requirements.
