Job Title: Cost Analyst II
Location: Duluth, Minnesota (Hybrid – onsite Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday)
Duration: 12+ Month Contract
This role is open to candidates who are currently located in Minnesota or neighboring states, as well as those who are willing to relocate at their own expense.
Description:
The Cost Analyst II will support construction-focused projects in the Duluth, Minnesota area, working in a hybrid capacity with periodic site visits. This role serves as the “eyes and ears” of the project team by coordinating closely with field personnel, inspectors, project managers, and project control analysts to understand field activities and support accurate project controls and forecasting. The position supports approximately 5–10 active projects with budgets ranging from $1M to $10M, primarily within construction environments.
Responsibilities- Act as the primary liaison between field operations and project teams, providing visibility into construction activities.
- Support multiple construction projects by tracking field progress, costs, and materials.
- Work closely with inspectors and field personnel to understand site conditions and support accurate forecasting.
- Review, validate, and process labor, equipment, and material tickets (LEMS) to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Support construction contracts, including material billing and cost tracking.
- Assist project managers and project control analysts with light cost forecasting and project reporting.
- Communicate construction progress, issues, and risks to project teams and stakeholders.
- Conduct occasional site visits while maintaining primarily office‑based responsibilities.
- Support resolution of construction‑related issues and field reporting concerns.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with cost, financial, and operational data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, charts, and data manipulation.
- General knowledge of construction processes and field operations preferred.
- Ability to analyze and drill down into large datasets to identify trends and issues.
- Strong time management, coordination, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across field and project teams.
- Experience or education in finance, accounting, analytics, or construction management (degree not required).
- Familiarity with Ecosys and Oracle preferred.
- Experience with Power BI for updating or reviewing dashboards is a plus.
