Overview
About the role:
The Sales Specialist will participate in the sales and business development efforts for WEG's Industrial Coatings in North America by partnering with outside sales to work with customers, establish trust-based relationships, assure a smooth sales process with clear communication, timely answers and follow-up, and superior customer experience. You will act as the main point of contact inside WEG for customer demands and needs.
You will also coordinate actions with supporting departments and work to be the true customer voice inside WEG. You will help establish and nurture industry connections and follow up with WEG Coatings team in México and Brazil.
- Perform as the primary interface of WEG and guide customers and outside teams through the inner workings of WEG to ensure a positive and complete customer experience.
- Receive and process (via phone, fax, or email) customer requests and proactively involve all company resources to answer questions to customer satisfaction.
- Evaluate and process inquiries to provide pricing, stock availability, necessary modification and/or engineering requirements to ensure the proper product options are presented.
- Receive orders (via phone, fax, or email) and process into WEG ERP system, verifying all information to support order accuracy, on time delivery, and the customer experience.
- Continue to grow in knowledge of all WEG catalog products to quickly and confidently support requests for customer applications.
- Proactively follow up on opportunities to ensure all customer expectations have been met.
- Develop and maintain relationships with assigned customer accounts.
- Oversee all company identified accounts to ensure the customer base continues to support company goals.
- Coordinate with and provide support to an assigned list of outside sales team members, with a focus on removing obstacles to enhance their ability to focus on the growth of new business.
- Lead the onboarding process for new customers and develop those accounts until they can transition to a team account.
- Drive outreach to low performing accounts with input and direction of the outside sales team to rekindle growth.
- Discuss situation and issue credits and RMAs with customers.
- Compile and prepare various reports for management and outside sales teams to support business growth and development.
- Monitor open order sales reports for order anomalies or late delivery and initiate corrections.
- Work with Production Planner and Production Supervisors on customer requirements that cannot be met within established lead times.
- Communicate with Purchasing any products that need to be ordered, modified, or expedited per customer request or per agreed delivery schedule.
- Act as liaison between production department and customers.
- Propose process and efficiency improvements.
- Participate in special projects as determined by management.
- Organize and follow up about samples logistics.
- Bachelor’s degree in a directly relevant field is preferred, such as business administration or chemistry or engineering. MBA/Master is a plus.
- Good sales & business development acumen.
- Understanding of industry trends, market forces, and customer (internal & external) expectations.
- Good product knowledge and applications.
- Good with the product specifications.
- Phone, mail and in-person etiquette for highly-professional customer interaction.
- Essential understanding of supporting department responsibilities.
- Good skills with Salesforce and Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Up to 20% travel.
- Preferred 2+ years of experience supporting customers or outside sales personnel.
