About The Role
The Gearing Lead is responsible for all gearing shop activities. You will drive team activities to meet department goals/KPIs, ensure the shop is properly supplied, keep all equipment within calibration requirements, provide training and guidance to other gearing technicians, set workload assignments for the team, prioritize work to meet customer demands, and communicate any issues with the department supervisor and/or manager.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Communicate to production supervisor, gearing team members, other departments, etc., to accomplish production goals
- Lead team activities and efforts to meet department goals, support supervisor in assigning daily tasks
- Maintain production status report and communicate daily to Production supervisor and/or manager
- Update work instructions for orders as needed
- Coordinate with Application Engineering to verify accuracy of BOMs
- Confirm TOs after orders have been picked
- Receive delivery notes and move parts to correct locations in SAP within designated timeframe. Notify production supervisor/manager of any quantity discrepancies
- Close out all orders in a timely manner
- Perform quality inspections and documentation on finished goods prior to shipping
- Verify parts quality and follow process for reporting bad parts to the quality team
- Maintain a quality review and training program
- Champion the WEG safety culture
- Ensure all team members comply with all PPE requirements
- Ensure team cohesion, accountability, and compliance with all WEG policies
- Delegate and verify all daily equipment operation checklists are properly completed
- Support the production supervisor in special projects to improve overall efficiency and productivity
- Implement improvements through Kaizen projects
- Issue and verify all daily cleaning assignments (5S champion)
- Conduct daily team meetings to review team performance and KPIs, and update team with capacity percentages (weekly / monthly)
- 5+ years’ experience
- Knowledge of gear assembly & schematics
- Previous experience as a lead in a manufacturing or production assembly environment
- Understanding and following safety procedures
- Mechanical assembly experience
- Proven history of properly following written procedures
- Proficiency in the use and operation of manual tools and power tools in hands-on applications
- Forklift operation experience required
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software
- Experience with SAP or other business software required
- Ability to coordinate all production orders, using all available resources, to completion per schedule
- Proficiency in using all test equipment procedures and interpreting test results accurately
- Ability to identify physical nonconformities on gear boxes
- Knowledge to properly identify materials & components in gear assembly
- Ability to guide and perform training for team technicians on all gear assembly
- High school education is required
