Join our team as a Field Service Engineer and play a key role in installing, maintaining, and repairing cutting‑edge production machinery! We're looking for someone who thrives in independent work environments, can self‑manage effectively, and is always ready to drive initiatives forward. Proper training will be provided, but your ability to stay busy and prioritize autonomously is crucial.

Position Overview

The Field Service Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and non‑SMT production machinery and equipment, with a primary focus on reflow ovens, while also supporting a variety of other SMT and non‑SMT equipment as needed. This role supports business growth through close collaboration with the Sales Division and requires extensive travel within the U.S. and internationally.

When not traveling for work, the position is based in the office in Duluth, GA.

The ideal candidate must be outgoing, proactive, and able to work independently, with strong self‑management skills to stay busy and drive initiatives forward. Proper training will be provided to ensure success in the role, but the ability to self‑motivate, prioritize tasks, and operate autonomously is extremely important.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Technical Services
    • Consult with customers on equipment and software specifications.
    • Verify and negotiate specs with manufacturers.
    • Develop test programs and manuals; execute installation, maintenance, and repair services.
    • Troubleshoot technical issues; manage escalation procedures.
    • Provide training on operation, maintenance, and software.
    • Recommend product improvements to manufacturers.
    • Oversee machinery logistics.
  • Record Maintenance
    • Maintain service records.
    • Prepare internal reports and provide updates to manufacturers.
    • Participate in sales meetings and trade shows.
    • Provide technical documentation and training to Sales Staff.
    • Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and evaluate new equipment.
  • Management Communication
    • Report issues to Supervisors and Managers.
    • Participate in meetings as required.
  • Continuous Learning & Process Improvement
    • Pursue certifications; stay current with industry trends.
    • Analyze and recommend improvements to work processes.
  • Professional Conduct
    • Maintain professionalism and use established communication channels effectively.
  • Physical Demands & Working Environment

    This role requires significant physical activity, including standing, walking, kneeling, and working in various environments (e.g., confined spaces, high humidity, noise, dust). Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends. Frequent U.S. travel (approx. 30%) and international travel are required, with potential for more. U.S. work authorization is mandatory, and U.S. citizenship may be required for specific sites, including ITAR-regulated locations.

    Qualifications
    • 3+ years of experience in SMT engineering services.
    • Experience working on, troubleshooting, and maintaining production machinery used in the Electronics manufacturing / SMT process; experience with reflow ovens a plus.
    • Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
    • Outgoing and proactive personality, with excellent interpersonal skills for customer interactions and team collaboration.
    • Strong ability to work independently, self‑manage tasks, and maintain productivity without constant supervision.
    • Ability to travel internationally (valid passport required), as well as work in the U.S. and ITAR‑regulated locations.
