Armaments Senior Supervisor

Responsibilities

The Weapons senior supervisor is responsible to the rectification controller and must be an experienced armament technician undertaking a range of detailed maintenance activities on the Typhoon aircraft or aircraft components. They will be responsible for maintaining airworthiness through appropriate task delegation and authorisation, meeting agreed delivery targets at a tactical level. They demonstrate people management and leadership skills, awareness of broader external dependencies, and identify continuous improvement opportunities.

They should be able to demonstrate an ability to analyse and diagnose faults to the Typhoon, equipment and assemblies, follow diagnostic procedures, work effectively within a team, and provide guidance to less experienced members in a dynamic operational environment.

• Undertake and complete tasked maintenance & diagnostic activities on the Typhoon or weapons systems/components, including aircraft ground handling, flight servicing, aircraft role changes, embodiments, component removals, inspections, repairs, modifications, fault rectifications, replacements, and functional/system testing.
• Undertake detailed maintenance, inspection, and supervision activities on aircraft or components per SOW/Work package, using approved technical information.
• Resolve faults and maintenance issues, with awareness of configuration management.
• Supervise the team to ensure maintenance is undertaken on schedule, highlight issues, escalated as required, and report on impact to the wider programme.
• Ensure staff are sufficiently competent and approved, maintain personal and team task authorisation in accordance with AMC requirements.
• Undertake support tasks within the maintenance facility to maintain compliance with MOE and AMC procedures (e.g., oversight checks, control of tooling/test equipment).
• Provide guidance and leadership, develop team members using formal assessment processes (PDRs), support training requests and OJT.
• Demonstrate sound communication and people management skills to exchange complex information.
• Undertake fault evaluation, create ad hoc work cards and record "found faults" during maintenance.
• Scope and carry out independent and vital inspections.
• Maintain a flexible and proactive attitude to responsibilities appropriate to the role and tasks.
• Maintain personal & team task authorisation for working on the Typhoon or components per regulatory requirements.
• Ensure maintenance is undertaken to schedule, resolve issues, escalated as required.
• Document all maintenance activities, maintain airworthiness records, compile required reporting, identify issues, and escalated as appropriate.
• Provide support and guidance, allocate tasks to appropriately authorised technicians.
• Compile appropriate reporting, identify issues, resolve, and escalated to keep maintenance servicing on schedule.
• Provide OJT aligned to role training specification for QAF candidates.
