Overview
The Air Elec Bay Supervisor is a skilled electrical supervisor who undertakes a range of detailed maintenance activities in the aircraft's air & electric bay, demonstrating the ability to derive diagnostic techniques. The role involves tasking work and supervising personnel, managing delivery targets at a tactical level, and exhibiting strong people management and leadership skills.
Post holders maintain airworthiness through appropriate task delegation and authorisation on aircraft electrical component activities. They are aware of broader external dependencies and identify areas for continuous improvement.
Core Activities- Undertake detailed maintenance and inspection activities on aircraft air & electric bay components, ensuring work is completed per the work package using approved technical information. Resolve faults and maintenance issues, including configuration management.
- Complete tasked maintenance & diagnostic activities on aircraft air & electric bay components, including component removals, inspections, repairs, modifications, fault rectifications, replacements, and system tests.
- Demonstrate flexibility and proactivity, taking direction appropriately.
- Maintain personal & team task authorisations for working on aircraft or components in accordance with QAF requirements.
- Maintain a personal Log Book to demonstrate currency and recency, signing other personnel’s logbooks as appropriate within trade boundaries. If an approved designated assessor, undertake authorisation and task competency approvals, and check Part 145 license application packs before submission.
- Support tasks within the aircraft air & electric bay facility to maintain compliance with MOE and QAF procedures.
- Evaluate faults and raise ad‑hoc work cards for emergent faults during maintenance.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are documented correctly and airworthiness records are maintained on relevant systems (IT/paper based). Compile required reporting, identify issues, and escalat.
- Performance indicators – ensure effective management of regulatory activities by setting delivery targets, monitoring progress, and developing performance improvement programmes. Prioritise activities within and across teams to maximise efficiency. Assess escalated issues for any impact on continuing airworthiness and generate effective resolutions or sponsor escalation to management as appropriate.
- Completion of activities – ensure all Part 145 activities are appropriately documented and airworthiness records are maintained on relevant systems (IT/paper based). Verify that all Part 145 activities are performed by suitably qualified, experienced and authorised personnel, and that they are integrated into the business with stakeholder engagement. Provide support and guidance to the team.
- Procedure / Standards – comply with the regulatory framework, associated procedures and standards, and any other company procedures. Identify and propose changes as required.
- Safety Management System – promote the application of Human Factors, Error Management, Risk Management and Safety Assurance within the Part 145 team(s), and proactively analyse, mitigate and manage hazards.
- Management System Assurance – ensure Part 145 team activities are compliant with the Regulatory Governance and Assurance framework. Support Part 145 personnel in Process Confirmations and independent assurance audits, integrate findings across teams, respond to audit findings in a timely manner and implement effective improvements.
- Statutory / Regulatory & Legislative requirements – demonstrate an appropriate level of understanding and application of the relevant airworthiness regulatory framework. Support implementation of regulatory‑driven changes into maintenance activities and ensure compliance with additional requirements such as ITAR, E&PW, ISO.
- Contractual Requirements – comply with all applicable contractual requirements.
- Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering or a military equivalent. Academic qualification: minimum City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance or equivalent. Aircraft platform training required.
- Experienced and competent leader at this level.
- Practical experience and expertise in the application of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices.
- Minimum of 2 years working at a supervisor level before taking on this role.

- IT‑Literate.
