This is a contracted position with an expected schedule of 4–5 hours per week, primarily during evening shifts. It’s a great opportunity for someone currently working part-time or full-time who’s looking to pick up additional evening work. Under the direction of the Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) Parent Educator/Advocate Coordinator the Group Leaders will present the Supporting Father Involvement curriculum in the POPS2 program. The Group Leader will conduct groups for both fathers and mothers on the importance of father involvement with young children. Following all grant terms and conditions, the Group Leader will provide individual, couple and/or parent/child counseling or coaching, and work closely with the POPS2 Lead Case Manager to provide input on family case plans.
The Group Leaders will also assist in recording data and will maintain strict program standards. This position is grant-funded for three years.
Qualifications:
- MA Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field.
- Must be a licensed or license-eligible MFT, LCSW or Licensed MFT Intern or LCSW Intern with necessary experience and expertise to serve children, families and child care providers.
- Bilingual/biliterate in English and Spanish.
- Experience with father involvement, child development, mediation, or family service programs preferred.
- Two years related experience in providing parenting groups, conducting assessment, one-to-one counseling.
- Depending on the department assigned, a valid California driver’s license, a current DMV driving record, and proof of insurance may be required to fulfill job-related travel. Reasonable accommodations will be considered in accordance with applicable laws.
As a Group Leader you will:
- Facilitate SFI curriculum sessions for parenting and co-parenting groups (training and support provided).
- Build relationships with parents and caregivers from diverse backgrounds, encouraging ongoing engagement in the program.
- Support the screening, assessment, and enrollment of potential participants.
- Collaborate with the FCSS Parent Educator/Advocate Coordinator on program planning.
- Prepare and adapt materials for group sessions to meet participant needs.
- Provide one-on-one consultation to families, team members, and community partners.
- Work collaboratively with POPS2 staff, social services, probation, family resource centers, and other community-based organizations.
- Promote a strength-based, child-centered, and solution-focused approach in all interactions.
- May provide guidance to a license-eligible group facilitator.
- Collect and maintain accurate data and documentation while upholding confidentiality.
- Assist with file reviews and audit preparation.
- Help plan and support family-centered activities (e.g., shared meals, creative projects, service events).
