The Security and Facilities Intern will work closely with the Security team gaining exposure to various aspects of corporate security in the aerospace industry, including physical security, cybersecurity, compliance, and risk management. You will be involved in numerous ongoing initiatives and will have the opportunity to participate as a valuable member of the team by working directly with an assigned mentor to complete any assigned projects, as well as other members of the Security and Facilities department.
Key Responsibilities:1. Assisting with Security Risk Assessments
- Help analyze and assess potential security risks for the company’s facilities, networks, and intellectual property.
- Support the preparation of security reports by gathering relevant data on internal and external threats.
2. Supporting Physical Security Measures
- Help maintain and manage access control systems, ensuring only authorized personnel have access to sensitive areas.
- Assist in securing and inventorying sensitive materials (e.g., blueprints, prototypes).
3. Compliance and Regulatory Support
- Assist with compliance audits and ensure the company follows industry standards, such as ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) or other aerospace-related security regulations.
- Help update and maintain security-related documentation.
4. Incident Response and Investigation
- Assist in investigating security breaches or suspicious activities within the company.
- Support in documenting incidents, identifying root causes, and helping develop preventive measures.
- Help prepare incident reports and collaborate with other departments (e.g., IT, legal) in case of a breach.
5. Security Awareness Training
- Assist in developing or updating security awareness training materials for employees.
- Help organize or conduct training sessions on topics like phishing prevention, data security, and physical security protocols.
6. Confidentiality and Intellectual Property Protection
- Ensure employees are aware of and follow procedures to protect sensitive company data, designs, and patents.
- Help safeguard proprietary information by monitoring data access and usage.
7. Emergency Preparedness and Response
- Support in the creation, updating, and testing of emergency response plans (e.g., evacuation procedures, lockdown protocols).
- Assist with drills and simulations related to security and emergency response.
8. Security Documentation and Reporting
- Help maintain accurate records of security procedures, incidents, and audits.
- Prepare daily, weekly, or monthly reports on security activities and findings.
9. Research and Trend Analysis
- Conduct research on the latest security trends and technologies in the aerospace industry.
- Provide insights on emerging threats or best practices for mitigating risk.
10. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams
- Work alongside other departments (e.g., legal, HR, IT) to ensure seamless security operations.
- Help facilitate cross-departmental meetings regarding security policy and risk management.
11. Data Entry and Record Keeping
- Enter and maintain security-related information in databases, logs, and tracking systems.
- Ensure that all information complies with company policies and regulations.
12. Security Awareness Campaigns
