PURPOSE:

The primary purpose of this job is, under the direct supervision of the Pre-Trial Release Director and the general supervision of the Deputy Court Administrator, is to complete the court ordered Pre-Sentence Reports and other reports in an efficient and timely manner.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Gather all necessary information to complete the Court requested report which may be the Pre-Sentence Investigation Report, the Expungement Hearing Report or the Post-Sentence Investigation report that includes the Criminal History, Arrest/Booking(s), Prosecutors information, including but not limited to the victims input and restitution owed.
  • Verify all the information obtained from the defendant is accurate and correct. Assure that all requested information is returned in a timely manner.
  • Establish and maintain viable and effective relationships with the Court, the Jail, Probation/Parole Officers, Prosecutors Office, Public Defenders Office, Private Attorneys and Community Service Providers.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all program and defendants’ information.
  • Submit the completed report for to the Pre-Sentence Investigation Director for final review. Make any necessary changes or additions to the report before it is filed with the assigned Judge.
  • Attend and participate in approved workshops and seminars to keep abreast of current changes in the Pre-Sentence Investigation Program.
  • Report any concerns or recommendations to the Deputy Court Administrator, Court Administrator and/or the Administrative Judge.
  • Other related duties that may become necessary or as directed by the supervisor.

None.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Must possess a bachelor’s degree and have a minimum of one (1) year of experience in criminal justice or social services.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to successfully pass a BCI and FBI Background check for LEADS (Law Enforcement Automated Data System).
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, the Court, community providers and the general public.
  • Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate these into existing practices.
  • Must be familiar with court processes and procedures.
  • Must be able to manage time and responsibilities effectively.
  • Must be culturally competent and sensitive to the needs of various cultures.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS (With or without reasonable accommodations)
  • Must be able to operate office equipment such as a copier, fax and computer.
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • May be exposed to high crime neighborhoods, communicable diseases and high-risk areas such as jails or prisons.
