To ensure that the daily tasks required to perform reinsurance accounting and reporting are completed accurately and timely. This includes ceded, assumed, Loss Portfolio Transfers (LPTs), and fronting business.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Maintain accounting functions in reinsurance subsystems. This includes posting cash and preparing manual adjustments for premiums and claims for ceded reinsurance, assumed reinsurance and/or Loss Portfolio Transfers (LPT) in various systems such as Peoplesoft, Freedom, SICs and Claim Center.
- Prepare reinsurance wires and post those payments in subsystems. As well as process cash call wires, as needed.
- Reconcile various general ledger accounts monthly.
- Fund and reconcile various escrow accounts. As well as reconcile various bank accounts and loss runs.
- Complete monthly, quarterly and annual statements, including premium and claims statements, as needed.
- Process various month end closing journal entries and tasks, which may include monthly claim adjustments, processing of bordereaux information and processing invoices.
- Prepare various monthly and quarterly reports related to the reinsurance group.
- Compile documentation for audit requests as needed throughout the year.
- Must maintain consistent and predictable attendance.
- Work closely with external parties as well as outside departments.
- Various projects may be assigned during the year.
- Complete various ad hoc requests throughout the year related to the reinsurance group.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- minimum of 2 years of experience in insurance industry or pertinent experience is a plus.
- Must have good oral and written communication skills.
- Dependable, organized, and motivated with a mature attitude.
- Efficient, accurate and detail oriented
- Able to prioritize tasks, work on multiple items simultaneously and complete duties within a specified time frame
- Ability to work independently, as well as within a team, with the ability to maintain a positive attitude during ever-changing challenges and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
