Launch Your Career in Investment Advisory & Financial Planning at Baystate Financial
Built for Top-Tier Finance Majors, Market-Driven Thinkers, and True Entrepreneurs

Are you driven, want to build your own practice, analytical, competitive, and deeply engaged in the financial markets? Do you follow macroeconomic trends, earnings cycles, interest rate movements, and equity valuations—not casually, but rigorously?

Since 1901, Baystate Financial has been one of New England’s premier boutique wealth management firms, delivering institutional-caliber investment strategies and sophisticated financial planning to high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners.

Our philosophy is disciplined and client‑first: we start with a blank sheet of paper—not a product quota. Every strategy is engineered around the client’s objectives, tax structure, risk profile, and long‑term capital markets assumptions.

We are now recruiting high‑performing Finance and investment‑focused majors into our highly selective Advisor Development Program
—a competitive track designed to cultivate the next generation of elite Investment Advisors.

What You’ll Do

This is not a sales internship. This is a capital markets‑driven advisory role that demands analytical rigor, intellectual curiosity, and a strong command of investment fundamentals.

You will operate at the intersection of markets, economics, and client capital allocation.

  • Conduct equity, fixed income, and macroeconomic analysis to inform portfolio positioning.
  • Evaluate valuation metrics, earnings trends, monetary policy shifts, and sector rotations.
  • Design customized, risk‑adjusted portfolios aligned with client objectives and market conditions.
  • Utilize institutional research, investment analytics, and proprietary modeling tools.

You’ll gain exposure to:

  • Traditional asset classes (equities, fixed income, ETFs, mutual funds).
  • Advanced tax‑aware strategies including 1031 exchanges, Opportunity Zones, and energy partnerships.
  • Portfolio construction focused on risk management, volatility control, and long‑term compounding.
A strong background in the stock market is essential.

You should be comfortable discussing market structure, diversification theory, risk‑adjusted returns, asset allocation, and current economic conditions with sophistication.

Holistic, Fee‑Based Financial Planning
  • Beyond investments, you will integrate strategy across the entire balance sheet.
  • Develop comprehensive, fee‑based financial plans incorporating tax optimization, estate planning, and risk management.
  • Design both accumulation and distribution‑phase strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal CFAs, CFP® professionals, JDs, and CPAs on complex wealth and business succession planning.
  • Deliver objective, fiduciary‑minded advice designed to preserve and grow generational wealth.
Client Relationship Development
  • Advisors at Baystate build real businesses.
  • Develop a niche or demographic focus aligned with your interests and network.
  • Build long‑term relationships rooted in trust, transparency, and expertise.
  • Guide clients through market volatility and life transitions with data‑driven confidence.
  • Position yourself as a strategic capital allocator—not a product salesperson.
Who We’re Looking For

This program is competitive and best suited for candidates who have already demonstrated serious commitment to finance and capital markets.

Strong candidates typically:

  • Major in Finance (preferred), Economics, Accounting, Business, or Data Analytics
    .
  • Have meaningful exposure to the stock market (internships, trading experience, research projects, investment clubs, or personal portfolio management).
  • Understand financial statements, valuation frameworks, portfolio theory, and macroeconomic drivers.
  • Possess an entrepreneurial mindset and desire to build their own advisory practice.
  • Demonstrate strong quantitative, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Maintain high ethical standards and intellectual discipline.
  • Have a genuine desire to help clients achieve financial independence.
