Full-Time Job Accounting, Data Analytics, Economics & Finance

Calder Capital is a leading investment banking firm specializing in mergers and acquisitions.
We are seeking highly motivated professionals to join our Buy-Side team.

Calder offers a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment where the learning and growth of our staff and associates are prioritized, and the truth is expected. Learning and growth are not a one-way street; however, you will be expected to think critically, solve problems, and answer questions on your feet. You will be involved in prospect and client discussions that can be emotionally charged.

Once you are comfortable with your surroundings and daily work, you will be expected to offer critical feedback to improve our processes and service offerings.

The position can be at our headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in our downtown office located at 25 Division Ave S, Suite 222 Grand Rapids, MI 49503, or carried out remotely. There is a slight preference for in-office workers but historically select associates and analysts have thrived working remotely.

Responsibilities
  • Sourcing:
Source acquisition targets for buy-side clients through cold outreach and leveraging existing relationships.
  • Develop, Learn, and Apply Financial Concepts:
Acquire and apply knowledge of accounting, corporate finance, and capital markets principles to support transactions. Continuously develop your understanding of these concepts and apply them effectively to your work.
  • Valuation Analysis:
Perform comprehensive valuation analyses using various methodologies, including discounted cash flow analysis, transaction comparables, and the asset method.
  • Attention to Detail and Discipline:
Demonstrate high attention to detail and discipline in producing error-free and properly formatted work consistently. Strive for excellence in all deliverables and maintain a high standard of quality.
  • Presentation Material Preparation:
Take the lead in preparing high-quality presentation materials for prospect and client meetings. Ensure the materials effectively communicate key information and contribute to the success of business development efforts.
  • Buy-Side Advisory Transaction Support:
Assist in the origination and execution of buy-side advisory transaction deals. Contribute to various stages of the transaction process, working closely with other team members to ensure successful outcomes for clients.
  • Prioritization and Multitasking:
Manage priorities effectively while working on multiple high-priority opportunities simultaneously with oversight from Directors and Advisors.
  • Constructive Feedback:
Actively engage in providing positive and critical feedback to improve the operations of Calder Capital, prospects, or clients’ businesses. Offer valuable insights and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Relationship Building:
Develop strong working relationships with peers at Calder Capital. Foster a collaborative and supportive environment, leveraging teamwork to achieve collective goals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree obtained by start date
  • Degree in Finance or Accounting and 3.80+ GPA preferred
  • Willingness to grind on outreach and acquisition target sourcing efforts
  • Previous related internship or full-time work experience is preferred
  • Candidates must be detail-oriented, proactive, self-motivated, and be able to manage multiple projects concurrently with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated understanding of or strong desire to further deepen knowledge about mergers and acquisitions, private equity, company valuation techniques, accounting concepts, and basic financial modeling
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • The ability to critically reflect on conversations, situations, and analyses/reports, and offer positive feedback for change and growth
  • Exhibit extremely strong work ethic and passion for improvement and growth
