Title: Intervention Specialist – INC Program, Bellbrook
Reports to: Greene Co. E.S.C. Director of Alternative Education (Academy, Outdoor Advantage, and Intensive Needs Classroom- INC programs)
Employment Status: Full-Time, 183 days
Salary Range: Dependent on experience, excellent benefits and competitive wages.
FLSA Status: Exempt

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Teaching license:
    Moderate/Intensive – Intervention Specialist Preferred;
    Mild/Moderate
    -Intervention Specialist; OR Education of handicapped in areas of learning disabilities/behavior disorders (LD/BD)
  • Trained in TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and Communication Handicapped Children) methodology –strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with students with autism–preferred; OR preschool experience; OR experience working with behaviorally challenged Intellectually Disabled () students; OR physically aggressive students
  • Adheres to Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators
  • Trained in CPI/Non-Violent Crisis Prevention– preferred. (Will provide training if needed)
  • Experience in IEP writing and Data Collection
  • Must be proficient at conducting FBAs and writing BIPs.
  • Knowledge of Ohio Academic Content Standards and Extended standards, and ability to write differentiated lessons that integrate academic goals, vocational life skills goals, and communication goals.
  • Ability to work with a team of professionals to meet the needs of every student.
  • Must have excellent attendance record.
  • Prefer to have passing test score on Foundations of Reading (OAE 090)
  • Knowledge of ODE’s Social Emotional Learning Standards
General Description

Designs and implements instructional programming for Intensive Needs Classroom (INC) students with intellectual disabilities, or multiple disabilities, limited communication skills, and behavioral challenges. Conducts evaluations required to document student progress toward extended standard goals & objectives and IEP objectives; participates in parent conferences to share information pertaining to the IEP & student progress.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Attends to the mission statement.
  • Maintains a positive learning environment and understands and implement PBIS strategies.
  • Constructs and coordinates the development of IEPs containing all necessary pertinent information and annual goals with short-term objectives for students.
  • Creates and follows a predictable academic visual schedule, and utilizes picture icons as a foundational communication strategy for all students across environments.
  • Ensures that a calm, predictable, consistent classroom climate is upheld with minimal adult talk to support student learning needs.

    Communicates expectations, models, and provides guidance to program assistants to support each student’s growth and development Develops rapport and regular communication
    with parents/guardians.
  • Utilizes the daily system of documentation/information collection to verify implementation of objectives and individual progress towards student goals and objectives Follows the policies and procedures for supporting student escalations safely and appropriately.
  • Participates in professional development training provided for staff.
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
  • Subscribes to the annual Teacher Evaluation process.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper license and credentials.
  • Must remain up to date with LPDC and IPDP requirements.
  • Other responsibilities that correlate with this teaching position.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens.
  • Conducts other duties related to the teacher’s duties as assigned by the Director/Principal or GCESC Superintendent of schools.
