School YearEssential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as case manager for assigned students, overseeing the full special education process, including referrals, evaluations, eligibility determinations, IEP development, progress monitoring, and re-evaluations in compliance with IDEA, state and federal law, and district policies.
- Develop, implement, and monitor developmentally appropriate IEPs that include goals, accommodations, modifications, and services aligned with student needs.
- Provide specially designed instruction and direct services to students with disabilities across educational environments to support IEP goals and objectives.
- Conduct academic assessments and classroom observations to inform evaluations, instructional planning, and IEP development.
- Maintain accurate, timely, confidential records and prepare required reports and documentation.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices, modify curriculum, and implement accommodations and instructional strategies aligned with the general education curriculum.
- Teach social-emotional, behavioral, and functional skills using evidence-based practices, positive behavior supports, and behavior modification strategies.
- Supervise and monitor 1:1 and shared para educators to ensure effective instructional support and fidelity to IEP services.
- Develop and maintain data collection systems to track student progress and inform instructional decisions.
- Participate as a member of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary teams to design and deliver services for students with disabilities.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to promote understanding of the special education process and encourage family engagement.
- Participate in professional development, team meetings, and ongoing collaboration with administrators and colleagues to support the continuous improvement of special education programs.
