Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
  • Requires 48 college credits or Para II DOE certification;
  • Experience with children and adolescents in an educational setting;
  • Must have ability to carry out a specially designed behavioral intervention plan for students with complex, physical, emotional, social and/or cognitive needs;
  • Must be willing to successfully complete a 40-hour RBT training program
  • Must be willing to successfully complete CPI training and certification.
Specific Core Function

Behavioral Support Technicians are assigned throughout the Manchester School District, from pre-school to high school levels. The majority of assignments will include implementing student behavioral plans and assisting and promoting self-regulation skills of students. The nature of the work requires that employees develop the capacity to work with students with significant behavioral needs and challenges requiring physical interventions.

Responsibilities of the Position
  • Under Principal and Office of Student Services supervision, assists classroom teachers and implements individual student behavior plans.
  • Must be willing and able to restrain/hold/transport and utilize quick body movements as indicated in individual student Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Performs assignments with guidance from related service providers (i.e BCBA, EBD teacher, social worker, etc) and direction from individual behavior plans.
  • Assists in preparing and developing basic teaching materials, instructional aids, and other support materials.
Specified Length/Hours of Position

This is an affiliated (AFSCME) position under the Para-Educators negotiated contract, following the school calendar, with six (6) to eight (8) hours per day, 30-40 hours per week. This job is not eligible for sponsorship.
