Dudley Council is recruiting an experienced Social Worker to join its Family Safeguarding Team, working on an assessments-only caseload. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled children's social worker who is confident in completing high-quality statutory assessments and making timely, evidence-based decisions to safeguard children.
The role focuses on completing Child and Family Assessments, including Section 17 and Section 47 work, ensuring all assessments are completed within statutory timescales and to a high professional standard. You will work closely with families and partner agencies to analyse risk, identify strengths, and recommend appropriate interventions.
The successful candidate will have strong assessment and analytical skills, be confident working autonomously, and have a sound understanding of safeguarding legislation, thresholds, and statutory guidance. You will be supported by experienced management within a well-established Family Safeguarding service.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake Child and Family Assessments under Section 17 and Section 47
- Complete high-quality assessments within statutory timescales
- Analyse risk and protective factors to inform decision-making
- Work collaboratively with families and multi-agency partners
- Participate in strategy discussions and safeguarding meetings
- Maintain accurate and timely case records in line with local authority requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Social Work
- Current Social Work England registration
- Recent experience in children's social care assessments
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and statutory frameworks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
