Production Supervisor

Position: Production Supervisor (Permanent)
The Company

Our client is a well-established manufacturing business specialising in sheet metal fabrication, welding, laser cutting, press braking, powder coating and assembly. They provide end-to-end fabrication solutions for a wide range of industries, producing high-quality fabricated components and assemblies from mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a hands-on Production Supervisor / Lead Welder Fabricator to lead a small team on the shop floor.

The Role

This is a hands-on supervisory role, working closely with a team of approximately 8 fabrication staff on the shop floor. The successful candidate will combine strong welding and fabrication skills with the ability to organise workloads, maintain quality standards and support the team to meet production targets.

You will be responsible for ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

* Supervising and coordinating a team of around 8 fabrication staff

* Working hands-on with welding and fabrication tasks

* Reading and interpreting technical and engineering drawings

* Organising daily production activities and allocating work

* Monitoring production progress to ensure deadlines are met

* Carrying out quality checks on finished work

* Supporting and mentoring team members on the shop floor

* Ensuring compliance with health & safety procedures

* Liaising with management regarding production schedules and priorities

* Maintaining high standards of workmanship and efficiency

Candidate Requirements

* Strong background in welding and metal fabrication

* Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings

* Previous experience in a team leader, supervisor or senior fabricator role

* Ability to lead by example and work hands-on within the team

* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

* Good organisational and communication skills

* Experience with in a fabrication, sheet metal or manufacturing environment

Desirable Experience

* MIG / TIG welding experience

* Sheet metal fabrication environment

* Experience supervising small production teams
