Talbots Law are seeking a Learning and Development Executive to play a key role in shaping our growing L&D function by coordinating the firm’s core learning programmes, managing all training logistics, and delivering a smooth, engaging onboarding experience.
The role supports Trainee Solicitors, Apprentices and SQE students through structured development and regulatory requirements, while also creating and delivering clear, engaging learning content. You’ll maintain training records, produce insights on engagement and compliance, manage the LMS, and work closely with HR, Compliance, external providers and managers to ensure learning aligns with the firm’s wider people priorities.
The successful candidate will be proactive, curious and committed to continuous improvement and passionate about supporting people’s growth through creating a positive learning culture. Given the nature of the role, you will also be comfortable shaping processes in a growing function.

As our Learning & Development Executive, you will:
Deliver engaging learning programmes- Coordinate our core learning curriculum across legal, professional and leadership skills
- Manage the logistics of training (virtual and in‑person)—from scheduling and communications to materials, attendance and evaluation
- Lead the induction and onboarding experience for new joiners and acquisitions, creating a welcoming and impactful first impression
- Provide structure, support and guidance for Trainee Solicitors, Apprentices and SQE students
- Coordinate seat rotation learning, enhanced training sessions and skills courses
- Work with Heads of Department and HR to monitor progress and meet regulatory/qualification requirements
- Organise and track SQE-related training, assessments and preparation
- Develop and refresh workshops, e‑learning modules, toolkits and training materials
- Facilitate sessions on soft skills, systems training and early‑career development
- Collaborate with internal experts to turn technical topics into accessible, learner-friendly content
- Maintain accurate training records to support SRA and regulatory compliance
- Produce insights and reporting on engagement, activity and learning impact
- Administer our LMS (Access Learning & People Management), helping colleagues navigate the system and troubleshoot issues
- Build strong relationships across Talbots as a trusted point of contact for learning queries
- Work with HR and Compliance to align training with people priorities
- Liaise with external training providers, universities and professional bodies
- Support managers in identifying and addressing development needs in their teams
- Experience in a learning & development role in a professional‑services environment
- Excellent organisation and project-management skills
- Effective communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities
- Confidence in designing and delivering engaging training content
- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with LMS platforms (ideally Access Learning)
- Experience in a legal L&D environment
- Understanding of SRA competence requirements or SQE pathways
- Exposure to digital learning tools (e‑learning tools, virtual facilitation, etc.)
- Ambition to progress into an L&D Manager role
