Band 6 Paediatric Physiotherapist. Part-time 21.4 hour per week.
An opportunity has arisen for a physiotherapist to join the Dudley Community Paediatric Physiotherapy Service.
We are looking for an individual who is experienced in working as a physiotherapist in paediatrics to join our innovative, experienced team, committed to the delivery of high quality services.
Main Duties of the JobWe are looking for a pro‑active physiotherapist, who would like to develop their clinical skills further, having the opportunity to work with children in a variety of settings.
We offer yearly rotations within preschool, linking with neonatal services, children attending mainstream schools and musculoskeletal, and special schools.
With the ability to contribute to serial casting clinic, hydrotherapy, gait clinic, gym club, CPIP and our in‑house orthotics clinic to name but a few.
About UsWe are an enthusiastic, motivated team who are passionate about providing a quality service. We have a well‑established monthly in‑service training programme for the whole team, with additional monthly training for our Band 6s.
As a new member of our team, you will have Band 7s to work alongside and support you on a one‑to‑one basis as required.
We are supportive of the team accessing relevant training courses and additional qualifications that then benefit the whole service.
Job ResponsibilitiesWe are looking for a well‑motivated, enthusiastic physiotherapist, who wishes to develop their physiotherapy skills in paediatrics. The successful candidate must have had a broad base of experience in Band 5/6 rotations within the NHS. The candidate will demonstrate evidence of previous paediatric experience as a physiotherapist.
The job purpose is to assess and treat children in a variety of locations, to treat children presenting with a variety of complex neurological/neuromuscular disorders and musculoskeletal conditions.
To educate and advise parents/carers and the wider MDT, to equip them with the necessary skills to promote children’s physical development and appropriate handling.
To work with children and their parents/carers and the wider team (where appropriate) to develop a personalised plan of care to support the achievement of their personal goals and enable greater participation.
Person Specification Education/Qualifications- Diploma/degree in physiotherapy
- State Registered Physiotherapist
- Post graduate courses relevant to speciality
- Wide ranging experience as a Band 5
- Experience of orthotics
- Sound understanding of safeguarding procedures
- Experience working in NHS as student or qualified physiotherapist
- Paediatric experience as student or Band 5
- Evidence of working with children
- Knowledge of SEND and EHCP
- Work in community settings
- Ability to prioritise, delegate and organise
- Ability to work as an MDT across organisations
- Member of CSP
- Sound understanding of clinical governance and risk
- Understanding and experience of audit
- Teaching of other healthcare staff
- Experience of supervising physiotherapy assistants
- Member of APCP
- Able to work as a team and communicate effectively
- Good interpersonal skills – all ages/abilities
- Motivated and organised
- Current driving licence and car owner
