Overview
Aspire are working with a new specialist setting focused on supporting children and young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), sensory processing challenges, and non-verbal communication needs. As they prepare to open our doors, we are looking for a passionate and forward-thinking Deputy Headteacher to join the school leadership team and help shape the next chapter of our school's development.
This is a unique opportunity to lead and inspire in a role that will directly impact the lives of our students, their families, and the staff team. You will help drive improvements, support staff development, and ensure that we provide a learning environment where every pupils individual needs, aspirations, and outcomes are at the heart of everything we do.
- Be an active and visible member of the senior leadership team, working collaboratively with the Headteacher and colleagues.
- Lead staff development, supporting the sharing of best practice across the school.
- Support strategic planning and provide operational leadership to ensure the smooth running of the school.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the School Development Plan.
- Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring a safe, supportive environment for all students.
- Work with a range of learners, including those with sensory needs and PMLD, creating meaningful, individualised learning experiences.
- Help lead the vision for a sensory-rich, engagement-focused curriculum tailored to non-verbal and sensory learners.
- While the school will have some PMLD learners, please note that the building currently does not have a lift to access the upstairs.
We want a leader who is excited to work with our young people in a sensory-driven, nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will bring:
- Experience in senior leadership, ideally in a special education setting, with a strong understanding of sensory processing, PMLD, and engagement models.
- A proven ability to inspire, motivate, and develop staff to share and embed best practices.
- An empathetic, inclusive approach to leadership, ensuring that every pupil is seen, heard, and supported.
- A forward-thinking, creative mindset, capable of contributing to the school's ongoing development with clarity and energy.
This is a key role for a dynamic leader ready to join a passionate team, drive excellence, and help us build a school where every student can thrive. If youre eager to make a difference in the lives of students with profound needs and help create a sensory-friendly, inclusive learning environment, were love to hear from you.
