Designated Safeguarding Lead – Dudley

Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annum

Contract:

Full Time (40 hours per week)

Leader Group is recruiting on behalf of a specialist PMLD school in Dudley.

Step into an exciting new chapter as a Designated Safeguarding Lead and play a pivotal role in creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for young people. You will lead safeguarding practice, champion student wellbeing, and ensure every child feels protected, empowered, and ready to succeed.

About the School

This specialist school provides therapeutic education for young people with complex needs, including SEMH and ASD. Supporting students aged 11–17, the school is committed to removing barriers to learning, building confidence, and enabling every learner to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead, overseeing all safeguarding practices and procedures
  • Provide pastoral care and tailored support to students with individual needs
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of safeguarding and school improvement strategies
  • Identify, monitor, and report safeguarding trends and concerns to senior leadership
  • Build strong, effective relationships with external agencies, professional services, and the wider community
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of behaviour incidents and safeguarding concerns
  • Support behaviour management and safeguarding practices across the school as required
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a safeguarding role within an educational setting
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a SEND or specialist provision
  • Strong passion for supporting students with SEND and SEMH needs
  • Clear understanding of the statutory responsibilities and duties of a Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Commitment to safeguarding excellence and promoting positive outcomes for all students
