Overview

Dudley Academies Trust,

Are you passionate about Geography and inspiring young minds? We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic Geography teacher to join Beacon Hill Academy. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of geographical concepts, an ability to engage and motivate students, and a commitment to fostering curiosity about the world around us.

About Beacon Hill

Beacon Hill is located in Woodsetton to the east of Sedgley. It is the largest of the academies in the Trust with over 1,100 learners on roll. It recruits at capacity in Year 7 and draws pupils from a large number of different primary schools in a highly populated area. Since 2019, GCSE results have shown improvements in both the attainment and progress of learners.

There has been a marked rise in the proportion of learners achieving Grade 5 or higher in both English and Mathematics.

Support and Experience

One of the advantages of its size is the number of staff who work in learner support and the broad pastoral care system. The academy has its own AS Base, with trained staff on hand to provide the extra support and care that AS learners may require. There is a comprehensive programme of extra-curricular activities ranging from sports and the arts to valuable enrichment experiences that have included visits to Oxbridge Universities, skiing trips to Italy, and visits to the WWI battlefields, China and Silicon Valley.

Teaching

Context

As a Trust we are highly centralised, which means that all of our systems and processes are aligned. Everything we do is developed collaboratively involving many professionals and experts who work together across the Trust, all striving to provide the highest quality provision for our learners. Teaching and Learning is supported by a central team of Subject Directors who are experienced teachers with leadership and mentoring skills who work across our academies supporting teachers in their personal development, data analysis and curriculum planning.

Subject Directors have specific areas of focus such as Mathematics, Science, Reading, Writing and History.

Closing date

Closing date is Wednesday 4th February 2026 - we reserve the right to close this vacancy earlier than the date advertised.

Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities

All successful applicants will need to undertake an enhanced disclosure and barring service check and children and adults barred list checks, where the applicant will be employed in a regulated activity.

Dudley Academies Trust is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds, including disabled, and black and ethnic minority applicants.
