Safeguarding Officer FTE 0.6 (Maternity Cover)

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Safeguarding Officer to join our Safeguarding and Wellbeing Team on a 0.6 FTE maternity cover basis. Reporting to the Head of Safeguarding and Well, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students feel safe, supported and able to succeed. Acting as a key point of contact for safeguarding and child protection concerns within the Safe and Well Hub, you will respond confidently and sensitively to referrals, ensuring timely and appropriate action in line with statutory guidance, college policies and GDPR requirements.

You will work closely with curriculum, pastoral and support teams to monitor and support students with safeguarding needs, ensuring the right levels of provision are in place to promote wellbeing, engagement and achievement. The role involves working in partnership with a range of external agencies, including social services, police and health professionals, attending multi‑agency meetings and contributing to safeguarding plans.

You will maintain accurate and confidential safeguarding records, contribute to reporting, quality assurance and improvement activity, and support the development and delivery of safeguarding training and wellbeing initiatives across the college. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practice, excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with students, colleagues and external partners.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced safeguarding professional seeking a part‑time role within a supportive team, where their expertise will have a direct and meaningful impact on learner welfare and success.
