As part of their strategic expansion, our client is seeking a Vice President of Accounting to lead, develop, and enhance the financial management structure supporting seven-plus business entities. This executive-level role is integral to the continued success and future growth of the organization.
Position Summary
The Vice President of Accounting will oversee the organization’s accounting department, ensuring full compliance with financial regulations and GAAP while driving strategic financial planning and process improvements. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, this individual will provide high-level financial insights and hands-on leadership to guide the accounting function across multiple business divisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical and operational leadership across all accounting functions with a focus on accuracy and timely financial reporting.
- Oversee hiring, training, and performance management for the accounting team, ensuring professional development and high performance.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Set quarterly and annual goals; evaluate performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Manage all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts receivable/payable, bank accounts, and financial data.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and internal financial controls.
- Prepare, analyze, and present financial statements, forecasts, and reports to executive leadership.
- Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and reporting systems.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead budgeting and forecasting processes to support organizational planning and growth.
- Develop and manage annual and project-based budgets.
- Provide financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Identify and evaluate financial risks, opportunities, and performance trends.
Cash & Asset Management
- Lead short-term cash flow strategy and investment activities.
- Monitor and manage capital expenditures, asset budgeting, and related financial planning.
- Build and maintain strong banking and financial institution relationships.
Mergers, Acquisitions & Risk Management
- Oversee all accounting-related aspects of mergers and acquisitions from due diligence through integration.
- Identify and manage financial risks; advise executive leadership to support financial stability.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with federal and state financial regulations.
- Maintain strong internal controls to protect company assets and ensure accurate reporting.
- Oversee audits and collaborate with external partners, including CPA firms and regulatory agencies.
Collaboration & Process Improvement
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the COO on financial operations, innovation, and long-term planning.
- Lead cross-functional projects across entities to drive organizational efficiency and alignment.
- Build effective partnerships with vendors, banks, and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred but not mandatory.
- 7+ years of experience in Accounting or Finance, including 3+ years in a management capacity.
- Experience with project management and Quick Books preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial compliance standards.
- Exceptional leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
