About the roleYou will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist works under the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) for operational guidance and under the Center Physician for medical issues. Familiarity with plasma collection regulations or a manufacturing environment is preferred. The role follows guidance from Bio Life Medical Affairs and supports environmental, health and safety (EHS) at the center.
Howyou will contribute
- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and review of SPE results.
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including developing Center Physician standing orders and donor transport to emergency facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
- Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation by occupational health/ER is required; refer to EHS guidance for incidents.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including graduation from an accredited nursing program with state requirements
- Current license or certification in the state of responsibilities (LPN or LVN)
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Ability to fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy (in licensure state)
- Completion of FDA-approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist
- Two years of clinical or hospital experience

U.S. Hourly Wage Range$22.69 - $31.20
The estimated hourly wage range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual wage offered depends on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location. Wages comply with state/local minimum wage requirements.
