General Purpose

Responsible for all aspects of the store’s operations. Leads the entire operation to ensure that company standards and best practices are consistently met. Staffs, trains and develops leadership team to deliver the desired sales and profit results while maintaining a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment.

Essential Functions

General Operating Requirements:

  • Lead all company best practices and maximize productivity by minimizing steps and touches.
  • Analyze store reports to evaluate controllable expenses and overall performance.
  • Address variance to company standards with appropriate action plans.
  • Ensure proper scheduling of associates to meet business objectives.
  • Accept special assignments as directed by leadership.
  • Responsible for payroll administration including daily punch edits, associate scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll transmission, and payroll reporting.
Organizational Development
  • Recruit, hire, train and develop assistant managers, area supervisors and non‑exempt associates.
  • Utilize all retention tools including incentive programs and training to reduce turnover.
  • Address personnel and performance issues through coaching and discipline.
  • Ensure compliance with Ross personnel policies and procedures.
  • Consult with the district manager on associate relations issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all state, local and federal regulations.
Expense Control
  • Lead all expenditures to be within budget.
  • Control payroll hours to plan and adjust to current business trends.
Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment
  • Adhere to company safety policies and ensure safety of associates and customers.
  • Ensure all associates understand and can execute emergency operating procedures.
Customer Service
  • Treat all customers, associates and leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness and professionalism at all times.
  • Execute customer service and merchandise presentation programs through associate training and supervision.
  • Coach retail associates in providing efficient service at registers, customer service desk, fitting rooms and sales floor.
Personal And Store Brand
  • Lead all store associates in a professional appearance in accordance with the company dress code.
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Manage store to ensure a clean, neat and easy‑to‑shop environment.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards with help of contracted maintenance personnel and associates.
Merchandise Processing and In‑Store Marketing
  • Ensure recovery, sizing and markdowns are completed to company standards.
  • Ensure merchandise is presented and organized per company merchandising guidelines.
  • Urgently manage merchandise processing to the sales floor within expected company timeframe.
Loss Prevention
  • Train associates on loss prevention programs to achieve store shortage goals.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions with associates and customers.
  • Maintain loss prevention awareness and perform annual inventory.
  • Monitor inventory policy to ensure proper administration.
