Guest Advocate (Cashier)
The Starting Hourly Rate for this position is $15.75 USD per hour, with a pay range of $15.75 –$23.65 USD per hour. This role is part of Target’s On‑Demand team, offering flexibility to work as much or as little as you like, picking up shifts through the myTime mobile scheduling app.
As an On‑Demand Team Member, you will not be listed on the posted weekly schedule. Instead you create your own schedule by selecting shifts that align with your availability. Reliable and prompt attendance is necessary, and you may be asked to work at least one shift every 4 weeks (minimum 4 hours) and at least one shift within 5 months. Failure to respond or meet these requirements can result in termination.
All On‑Demand Team Members attend a Target Welcome orientation and complete a short‑term structured training program before starting.
All About Service & EngagementYou will welcome, thank, and exceed guest service expectations by focusing on guest interaction, loyalty enrollment, and store cleanliness. You will be responsible for:
- Greeting guests and creating a welcoming experience.
- Engaging with guests to solve their needs.
- Being knowledgeable about store products, services, and digital solutions.
- Scanning, bagging, and bagging guest items efficiently and accurately.
- Keeping guest wait times short while maintaining accuracy.
- Promoting current brand launches, activities, and events.
- Assisting guests with Target Loyalty program enrollment and subscription.
- Using the Target App and other digital features.
- Following Target’s policies and procedures, including returns, de‑escalation, and compliance with beverage laws.
- Maintaining a clean, organized work area and restocking supplies.
- Supporting Cash Office processes and cash handling when required.
- Enthusiasm for interacting with guests and team members.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑moving, physically demanding environment.
- Flexibility to work various hours, days, and shifts—including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times.
- Excellent communication, positive language, and attentiveness to guest needs.
- Strong focus, composure, and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency with handheld scanners, mobile scheduling apps, and other retail technology.
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
Skills & Qualifications
- Accurate cash handling and registry operations.
- Physical ability to lift up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 44 pounds occasionally.
- Will‑power to pick up shifts as needed.
- Readiness to respond to contact attempts and attend scheduled shifts.
- Adherence to safety policies and hazard mitigation.
