RN, Registered Nurse - PACU

Position Purpose

The Preop/PACU/PAT/PHASE 2 departments at Mount Carmel Dublin are unique. The Registered Nurse will see pre‑surgical and post‑surgical care cases from the operating rooms, endoscopy suite, non‑invasive cardiac lab, and cardiac and interventional radiology suite. The nurse‑to‑patient ratio is 1:2 in the PACU and a new patient can be expected in pre‑op every hour. This fast‑paced department is full of energy and teamwork.

Staff are cross‑trained in pre‑op, PAT, PACU and phase 2, offering the opportunity to gain additional skills and interact with different patient populations. The team is comprised of tenured staff who are always happy to mentor new colleagues.

Day shift from 7:30 am to 8:00 pm, with late stays scheduled.

Full time

• Provide nursing care and promote patient safety, evidence‑based practice, and quality initiatives, exhibiting professionalism within the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®.
• Assess and evaluate patient care for an assigned group of patients, using evidence‑based practice. Collaborate with patients and families to develop and implement a plan of care that includes physical, spiritual and educational components.
• Communicate pertinent information to appropriate team members in a timely manner and keep patients/families apprised and updated.
• Document accurately and completely pertinent assessments, interventions and outcomes for patients in accordance with documentation standards, policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Assume responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed caregivers as appropriate.

• Graduated from a school of nursing.
• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
• For casual RNs, 2 years of experience is required.
• All new graduate nurses with less than one year of clinical experience will be automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program.
