Responsibilities

We are actively hiring for an Registered Nurse (RN) Pre Op PACU.

  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA.
  • Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status at intervals according to facility or healthcare organization policies and procedures, including evaluation of the cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological systems, hemodynamic stability, pain, comfort needs, and mental status.
  • Interpret information accurately from various noninvasive and invasive monitors.
  • Describe the underlying pathophysiology of commonly encountered disease processes and the physiology associated with anesthesia techniques and surgical interventions.
  • Apply relevant scoring systems/discharge criteria for patient transfer (e.g., Aldrete Score, PARSAP, PADSS, White score) as defined by organizational policy.
  • Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care and implement it, including managing patient recovery from anesthesia, protecting patients from injury, administering medications safely, maintaining wound and tissue perfusion, and managing co-morbid conditions.
  • Evaluate patient progress toward outcomes, transfer care as needed, and provide accurate hand-off reports.
  • Delegate tasks according to legal and organizational standards, document care thoroughly, and collaborate with other disciplines.
  • Participate in quality review, performance improvement, and team activities, and maintain required competencies.
  • Act as a patient advocate, ensure privacy and confidentiality, and comply with facility policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
  • One year of Preoperative or PACU experience required.
  • Medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.
  • Current state licensure and certifications (BLS/BCLS, ACLS, PALS if pediatric care included) as required, all current within 90 days of employment.
