The City of Dublin offers seasonal maintenance job opportunities in many of our public service‑oriented divisions. Successful candidates gain valuable knowledge and experience through training, both on the job and through formal instruction, while working with a highly tenured and expert staff.
Pay Rate Information- Starting pay rate for new hires is $17.00 /hour
- Starting pay rate for new hires with a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is $20.40 /hour
- Employees are hired into the established wage structure; therefore pay is non‑negotiable
- Returning employees will progress to the next step in our wage structure to receive a raise with each year of consecutive service
- Working hours are M‑on‑Friday, 7 am‑3 pm
- Ideal candidates will be available to work through December 2026
- Short‑term and long‑term schedules are available up to 40 hours per week
- Continuing work may be available beyond December, dependent on workload and the approved budget

These positions require working outdoors in all weather conditions, performing light to heavy manual labor and maintenance work, as well as operating a variety of hand tools and power equipment. The nature of this classification may subject the successful candidate to call‑ins during emergencies and/or irregular shifts.
Specific Duties of Engineering Utilities Seasonal Maintenance Workers- Repairing roads, manholes and sewer lines
- Hydrant maintenance and repair
- Manhole inspection
- Providing traffic control during street repairs
- Setting up barricades, signs and cones
- Collecting yard waste (i.e., leaf and chipper collection)
- Operation of salt truck with plow and spreader during winter weather months
- Assisting with community special events as needed
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Possession of a valid driver’s license
- Previous experience with road maintenance, solid waste utilities and/or engineering
- Possession of a valid State of Ohio Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with an ideal preference for a “CDL Class A”
- High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent certificate
- Availability to work through December 2026
- Candidates must successfully complete and pass a physical ability/lift test as a condition of hire
- Physical strength, agility and endurance to perform all essential functions
- Ability to demonstrate dexterity in the use of hands and feet
- Ability to transfer and carry heavy objects
- Ability to exert in excess of 75–125 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50–100 lbs. of force frequently
- Ability to maneuver over/under equipment and in small work areas while performing essential functions
- Ability to dig, bend, lift and work in confined spaces
- Ability to walk long distances and/or work while standing for long periods of time
- Ability to perform tasks requiring stooping, bending, climbing ladders or stairs, etc.
- Ability to operate a variety of light and medium motorized vehicles
- Ability to operate and control power tools such as jack hammers and chainsaws
- Ability to work under emergency conditions in support of fire and police operations
- Ability to utilize appropriate protective clothing and equipment around hazardous chemicals or conditions
- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of climatic conditions (rain, snow, etc.) with a range of temperature conditions on streets with a heavy volume of vehicular traffic during daylight and night hours
