Duties
  • Direct operations, programs, and activities to meet organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure staffing adequacy through timely hiring, orientation, competency, training, and performance management.
  • Coach and provide regular feedback to staff; serve as a role model for performance and conduct.
  • Set and execute department strategies to achieve goals in service, quality, compliance, finances, patient satisfaction, and personnel management.
  • Seek and incorporate feedback from internal and external sources to improve care delivery.
  • Oversee the laboratory’s financial operation, monitor resource utilization, identify variances, and adjust to meet service and fiscal goals; prepare monthly operating review reports.
  • Ensure compliance with accrediting agencies (CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, FDA, CMS) and conduct annual policy reviews.
  • Manage vendor relationships and supply contracts in coordination with Laboratory Services and Supply Chain.
  • Develop and implement a communication plan to keep department personnel informed and encourage open communication.
  • Direct operations, delegate responsibilities, monitor staff activities, and provide coaching, guidance, and training as needed.
Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • National certification as a Medical Technologist required.
  • 5+ years progressive laboratory management experience with complex laboratory operations.
  • Hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred.
  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID‑19 in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, unless medical or religious exemption applies.
