How You Make a DifferenceThe Physician Assistant provides comprehensive medical care to inmates under the supervision of medical leadership. Responsibilities include evaluating and treating acute and emergency complaints, attending administrative meetings, and supporting cross‑coverage needs. The PA collaborates with physicians and mental health professionals, ensures clinical documentation aligns with protocols, maintains patient privacy, and contributes to quality improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver acute and emergency medical care in accordance with protocols
- Consult with physicians and manage patient transfers when clinically indicated
- Document all findings using the S.O.A.P. method and EMR systems
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and participate in quality improvement efforts
- Provide cross‑coverage and support psychiatric stability assessments
Education
- Completion of an accredited education program for PAs
Experience
- Previous correctional/detention facility experience
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience
Licenses/Certifications
- Unrestricted current license, certification, or registration in the state of practice
- Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration
- Current lifesaving BLS and PALS (where applicable) certification through AHA
