General Purpose

The Solution Architect I reports directly to the Manager of Systems Architecture and is based in Dublin, CA. The role is responsible for shaping Ross’s technology landscape, driving the IT strategy and roadmap, evaluating and selecting technology solutions, and aligning them with key business portfolios such as Supply Chain and Stores. This highly visible position engages with Ross IT, business partners, and external technology providers.

The ideal candidate brings strong architectural expertise and the ability to develop aligned solutions to meet business goals.

Base salary range: $109,900 – $187,450, dependent on experience, qualifications, and location.

Essential Functions
  • Provide enterprise‑level architecture consultancy, thought leadership, and technical guidance for strategic projects across programs and portfolios.
  • Address key enterprise technology architecture aspects, including technology solutions, strategies, feasibility insights, and evolving technology fit.
  • Conduct TCO and ROI analysis to convey the financial impact of architecture solutions and strategies.
  • Prepare and present architecture solutions and strategic proposals to executives and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in 5‑year planning and annual budgeting, providing actionable recommendations to drive business outcomes and account for technology obsolescence and risk.
  • Collaborate with IT and Business Partners to define roadmap enablers, explore technical options, and build architecture roadmaps that meet milestones.
  • Work with peer architects to analyze business context, combine architecture viewpoints, and develop future‑state technology architecture, defining requirements, principles, and models that guide decisions.
  • Facilitate research, evaluation, and selection of hardware and software technology, product standards, and design of standard configurations.
  • Develop, document, and maintain technology architecture standards and patterns.
  • Ensure alignment with other Enterprise, Application, and Portfolio architects for holistic solutions.
  • Ensure completion of architectural and project deliverables on time and under budget, achieving anticipated business outcomes.
  • Create solution designs that leverage Ross architecture standards and services, meeting key design criteria such as availability, recoverability, scalability, and performance.
  • Provide architectural and technical input for project definition, estimation, and delivery.
  • Work frequently with external resources or third parties such as IT system integrators and vendors to assess technology needed for current problem statements and emerging technologies of strategic value.
