Job Summary

The Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing engineering projects, processes, and teams within our metal manufacturing operations. This role ensures the efficient design, implementation, and improvement of manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems, with a focus on quality, cost‑effectiveness, and safety. The Engineering Manager will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, drive innovation, and lead initiatives to enhance manufacturing capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Team Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and manage the engineering team, ensuring effective performance, development, and team cohesion.
    • Provide guidance on engineering practices and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Develop, implement, and optimize metal manufacturing processes to enhance product quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
    • Analyze manufacturing processes and workflows, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes.
  • Project Management:
    • Oversee and manage engineering projects, including new product development, process upgrades, and equipment installations.
    • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Provide engineering support for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in production.
    • Specify and evaluate new equipment, tooling, and technology to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
  • Quality and Compliance:
    • Ensure that manufacturing processes adhere to quality standards and industry regulations.
    • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to address and resolve quality issues.
  • Cost Management:
    • Develop and manage budgets for engineering projects and initiatives.
    • Optimize resource utilization to achieve cost reductions while maintaining product quality.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with cross‑functional teams, including production, design, and supply chain, to align engineering efforts with business goals.
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing updates on project status, challenges, and achievements.
  • Training and Development:
    • Develop and implement technical training programs for engineering and manufacturing staff.
    • Ensure the team is well‑versed in the latest technologies and best practices in metal manufacturing.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure all engineering activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
    • Promote a safe working environment by adhering to safety standards and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5‑7 years of experience in engineering management within the metal manufacturing industry.
    • Proven track record of managing engineering projects and leading teams.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of metal manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies.
    • Excellent project management, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
    • Proficiency in engineering software and tools (e.g., CAD, ERP systems).
    • Strong analytical and decision‑making abilities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Certifications:
    • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., PMP, Six Sigma) are advantageous.
Working Conditions
  • This role typically involves working in a manufacturing environment with potential exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.
  • Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings, oversee projects, or visit suppliers.
