Job Summary

The Project Estimator is responsible for developing accurate and competitive cost estimates to support sales and operations teams for complex low-voltage and communications technology projects. This role involves reviewing bid documents, performing material take-offs, preparing labor estimates, coordinating with vendors and technical partners, and producing clear scopes of work. The Project Estimator works closely with internal stakeholders to ensure estimates align with project requirements, schedules, and quality standards while meeting established deadlines.

Job Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret bid documents, including specifications and drawing packages.
  • Conduct on-site job walks and meetings with clients as required.
  • Perform detailed take-offs to develop bills of materials and define project scope.
  • Develop and manage RFIs to support accurate and complete estimates.
  • Prepare competitive project pricing, written scopes of work, and value-engineered alternatives.
  • Coordinate with vendor partners and suppliers to obtain pricing and technical information.
  • Conduct scope reviews and support project handoff to sales and operations teams.
  • Create pre-construction and as-built drawings using AutoCAD or Visio.
  • Manage multiple estimates concurrently while meeting deadlines and accuracy expectations.
  • Participate in ongoing training to remain current with emerging technologies and industry practices.
Job Requirements
  • Associate degree, trade school degree, or equivalent corporate or military training.
  • Minimum of five years of technical experience, including hands-on field experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to estimate complex projects, including accurate material take-offs and labor estimates.
  • Experience estimating or managing large-scale projects valued over $2 million.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of low-voltage systems, including structured cabling, DAS, Wi-Fi, audio-visual systems, and electronic security technologies.
  • Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills with a high level of repeatable accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint.
  • Experience working in a union environment.
  • Experience using estimating software such as Procore, Esticom, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with Bluebeam and Visio.
Education
  • Associate degree or equivalent technical, trade, corporate, or military training preferred.
Work Experience
  • Five or more years of relevant technical and estimating experience in low-voltage, structured cabling, or communications systems.
