LPC instructors close equity gaps by fostering success among all students. To further this work, we are looking for adjunct instructors for the Spring 2026 semester to provide college‑level instruction in the second semester of General Chemistry (Chemistry 1B). The current open position has Tuesday‑Thursday lectures from 2:00 – 3:15 p.m., and Monday‑Friday labs from 2:00 – 4:50 p.m. The position includes lecture and laboratory preparations and teaching, classroom management, and student assessment/evaluation.
Successful applicants will demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic backgrounds and abilities of community college students.
- Providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines, and class schedules.
- Creating and maintaining an environment that emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas, and promotes critical thinking.
- Evaluating student progress, assigning grades, and maintaining records of student work.
- Meeting with students outside of class as needed.
- Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
- Maintaining current knowledge in the subject‑matter areas.
- Fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member.
- Maintaining accurate academic records.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
- Master's in chemistry OR Bachelor's in chemistry or biochemistry combined with a Master's in biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical physics, physics, molecular biology, or geochemistry OR the equivalent.
- Evidence of understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, and how these factors influence the need for equity‑minded practices within the classroom.
