Electronic Technician

The Electronic Technician is responsible for carrying out electronic maintenance, diagnostics, and fault-finding activities across port crane and terminal equipment systems. The role ensures the reliability, safety, and optimal performance of control systems, drives, instrumentation, and associated electronic components through systematic testing, analysis, and rectification.

• Perform preventative maintenance, inspection, and calibration of electronic systems and equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Identify, diagnose, and resolve equipment malfunctions, coordinating with technical suppliers and field representatives when required to source and replace components.
• Conduct advanced fault-finding on PLC systems, drives, sensors, control circuits, and safety interlock systems.
• Provide technical support and engineering input for the installation, upgrade, and enhancement of new and existing equipment and control systems.
• Assist in commissioning, testing, and integration of new crane and terminal equipment systems.
• Ensure all tasks are carried out using safe and efficient working practices in compliance with port safety standards, LOTO procedures, and workshop regulations.
• Service, maintain, and repair electronic systems on Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes, Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes, Rail Mounted Gantry (RMG) cranes, and associated terminal equipment.
• Interpret electrical schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic data to support effective troubleshooting and repair.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and system documentation.
• Support breakdown response activities, including shift and emergency call-out requirements as needed to maintain operational uptime.

Diploma or equivalent.

OEM in-house electrical fault finding. S5 & S7 Knowledge preferred.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in the same field.

• Knowledge of marine equipment and machinery.
• Knowledge of thyristor controls, AC and DC motor controls, and generators.
• Good electronic aptitude.
• Good Knowledge of computers and electrical tools.
