Job Summary
The Stock Controller is responsible for overseeing, controlling, and optimizing inventory across all channels including stores, warehouses, concessions, and e-commerce. This role ensures stock accuracy, availability, loss prevention, and optimal stock levels to support sales performance and margin protection.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure accurate stock levels across all locations (stores, warehouse, 3PL, e-commerce).
- Monitor and reconcile stock discrepancies, shrinkage, damages, and write-offs.
- Oversee cycle counts and full physical inventories, ensuring timely resolution of variances.
- Implement and maintain stock control procedures and SOPs.
- Maintain updated inventory records, including daily shipments.
- Analyze sales data, stock cover, sell-through, and aging stock.
- Support stock allocation and replenishment decisions across stores and channels.
- Identify overstock and slow-moving items; propose corrective actions (transfers, markdowns, promotions).
- Coordinate with Supply Chain and Buying teams on annual purchases.
- Participate in annual purchase budgeting and keep systems updated.
- Define product strategy and roadmap in alignment with business goals.
- Propose overall inventory budget to ensure operational success.
- Brief and train sales teams before peak seasons (e.g., BTS – Back to School).
- Control stock receipts from suppliers and factories.
- Ensure accurate and timely GRNs.
- Validate transfers between warehouse and stores.
- Monitor customer returns, store returns, and RTVs.
- Verify supplier deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Ensure proper labeling, coding, and storage of inventory.
- Monitor shrinkage trends and investigate root causes.
- Work closely with retail and warehouse teams to reduce stock loss and operational errors.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and financial procedures.
- Assist during internal and external audits.
- Flag slow-moving, obsolete, or expired stock to the Finance Manager.
- Prepare regular inventory reports (stock accuracy, aging, stock cover, shrinkage, discrepancies).
- Provide insights to management to support commercial and operational decisions.
- Prepare sales and stock reports for stakeholders.
- Support month-end and year-end stock reconciliation.
- Maintain documentation for all inventory transactions.
- Coordinate with procurement, warehouse, logistics, retail, and finance teams.
- Support administrative functions during off-peak periods (filing, document control, digital archiving, audit documentation).
- Ensure compliance with inventory SOPs.
- 3–5+ years of experience in stock control/inventory management within textile, fashion, or retail.
- Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel knowledge (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP).
- Experience with ERP systems (SAGE 300, SAP, Oracle, Navision, or similar).
- Strong understanding of retail KPIs (sell-through, stock cover, shrinkage).
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with retail, warehouse, finance, and buying teams.
- Fluent in English (additional languages are a plus).
- Good communication and negotiation skills.
