Job Title: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Nurse (Filipino & European)
Department: Nursing – Pediatric Critical Care
Reports To: PICU Nurse Manager / Head of Nursing
Location: Hospital / Medical Center
Employment Type: Full-Time / Shift-Based
Job Summary
The PICU Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality, specialized nursing care to critically ill infants and children in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The role requires advanced clinical skills, strong critical-thinking abilities, and compassionate family-centered care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients, including continuous monitoring and life-support management
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
- Operate and monitor advanced medical equipment (ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, etc.)
- Administer medications and treatments as per physician orders and hospital protocols
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition or medical emergencies
- Collaborate closely with pediatric intensivists, physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation and nursing records
- Educate and support patients’ families with empathy and clear communication
- Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and quality standards
- Participate in unit audits, training, and continuous professional development
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSc Nursing) –
Mandatory - Valid Nursing License (DHA / DOH / MOH or equivalent, or eligibility to obtain)
- Minimum 2–3 years of PICU or Pediatric Critical Care experience
- Current BLS and PALS certification (ACLS preferred)
- Strong knowledge of pediatric critical care protocols and equipment
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Excellent clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- High attention to detail and patient safety
- Ability to work under pressure in emergency situations
- Compassionate, patient- and family-centered approach
- PICU Certification or Pediatric Critical Care Nursing Certification
- Experience in tertiary or multispecialty hospitals
- High-acuity critical care setting
- Fast-paced and emotionally demanding environment
- Requires prolonged standing and physical stamina
