PR & Communications Lead

Responsibilities and DutiesKey Responsibilities:
- Own PR Strategy for Key Clients
- Build the PR strategy from scratch for campaigns.
- Define:
Target media list (Tier 1, Tier 2, vertical press) - Key messaging pillars
- Story angles
- Press calendar
- Launch timing and rollout phases
- Align PR plan with client business goals (awareness, positioning, credibility, etc.)
- Adjust strategy based on media feedback and campaign performance
- Lead English and Arabic Media Relations
- Personally handle top-tier English and Arabic media outreach.
- Maintain and grow relationships with editors, journalists, columnists, business & lifestyle reporters.
- Secure interviews, features, and commentary opportunities.
- Handle sensitive or high-stakes media conversations.
- Prepare media briefings and talking points for clients.
- High-Level Writing & Messaging
- Write and refine:
Press releases, Opinion articles, Executive statements, Media pitches, Crisis responses (if needed) - Ensure all communication reads at a journalistic standard.
- Approve all outgoing press materials from the team.
- Develop messaging frameworks for campaigns.
- Write and refine:
- Campaign Rollout & Execution Oversight
- Create PR launch plans including:
Announcement sequencing, Embargo strategy, Media exclusives, Event/media invite strategy - Oversee distribution and follow-ups.
- Monitor coverage and optimize outreach.
- Ensure deadlines are met.
- Create PR launch plans including:
- Client Leadership
- Lead PR sections in client meetings.
- Present strategy and coverage reports.
- Advise clients on:
Reputation positioning, Media readiness, Spokesperson training (if needed) - Manage expectations around media results and timelines.
- Reporting & Performance
- Track:
Coverage quality (not just quantity), Tier level, Messaging alignment, Share of voice. - Share structured monthly PR reports.
- Recommend improvements for future campaigns.
- Track:
- Build the PR Function at YAZ Media
- Establish PR processes and templates.
- Build media database quality.
- Create internal quality standards for writing.
- Support future PR hires if the team grows.
6+ years of experience in PR, communications, or journalism. Experience with government clients and understanding government protocols. Strong existing relationships with English-language media in the UAE. Exceptional English and Arabic writing skills with a journalistic tone. Proven experience leading campaigns and managing media strategy. Experience managing at least one direct report. Based in Dubai. Agency experience preferred.
