Reporting to the General Manager, The Head of Casualty will lead the strategy, development, and profitable growth of the casualty portfolio, ensuring disciplined risk selection, strong underwriting performance, and innovative client solutions across liability lines. This senior role requires deep technical expertise, commercial acumen, and proven leadership to balance growth with prudent risk management. The Head will drive product innovation, optimise portfolio performance, and strengthen market positioning through trusted relationships with brokers, cedents, and reinsurance partners.
In addition, the role will mentor and develop a high-performing team, ensuring long-term value creation and sustainable business growth.
- Define and execute strategic plans to achieve growth and profitability targets across the casualty and financial lines portfolio.
- Track market dynamics, competitor activity, and regulatory shifts to ensure strategies remain competitive and future-focused.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire the casualty and financial lines team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Strengthen technical and leadership capabilities through structured guidance, coaching, and development initiatives.
- Direct the design, enhancement, and delivery of casualty and financial lines products tailored to client and market needs.
- Ensure all offerings comply with regulatory standards and support long-term business objectives.
- Continuously monitor portfolio exposure and implement robust risk mitigation measures.
- Conduct regular reviews to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with cedents, brokers, and reinsurance partners.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities to strengthen and diversify the portfolio.
- Deliver on financial targets agreed with senior management, driving sustainable returns.
- Provide timely reporting on portfolio performance, including financials, risk analysis, and market intelligence.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role within the reinsurance industry.
- Bachelors degree in Business Management or a related field; a Masters degree is a plus.
- Proven expertise in portfolio management, risk management, and technical reinsurance knowledge.
- Strong knowledge of casualty and financial lines products and market dynamics.
- Risk management expertise and analytical capabilities.
- Effective portfolio management and strategic planning skills.
